Description:
With an estimated 3.5 BILLION viewers on planet Earth, I made this design with the fan in-mind! This soccer player aggressively slide-kicks the ball while balancing on his lower hand! The ball is made from the same hardened stainless steel bearing as his head - the only difference is that the soccer ball is heated to a glowing white hot to blacken the steel for a contrasting effect. I really love how this one moves and balances - it sweeps, bobs and spins in such a way that it looks like he’s always kicking the ball.
The aggressive split-leg pose really adds to his character and the motion. On top of that, I carefully use “build-up” welds to weld shorts onto this little guy. I then smooth out and blend the welds of the pants the same way I do for all of his body parts. I leave a little bit more texture on the pants to give a more natural look.
