SOAR

There is a quiet kind of courage found in letting go. Soar captures the instant when hesitation disappears and a clear path is determined. Every line of her body reaches forward while her hair levitates above her, transformed into a living current that blurs the boundary between the figure and the air around her. She is carried not by certainty, but by hope; the belief that the next step is worth taking even before the outcome is know - a leap of faith.

This design is about momentum, about embracing change instead of resisting it.

All of my work is made with TIG welding stainless steel - I never cast it from clay. I prefer to work in permanence. Usually “working in permanence” is reserved to stone, wood or glass. It is very rare to work in stainless steel without casting it from clay. This is why I love welding, grinding an shaping even the smallest details straight from stainless. Her little fingers are mere 1/32” diameter wires. I carefully shaped her fingers using low amps on my TIG welder.
