Rotate - Aviation Mini Series

$350.00
Sold

ROTATE INTO THE WILD BLUE!

A UNIQUE ITEM, GIFT OR DESK TOY FOR ANY AVIATION LOVER

MOVEMENT TIME: ~5 min

DESCRIPTION:

This is another design in a unique line of aviation themed designs - once sold, they will not be made again.

This design, aptly titled “Rotate” has a uniquely positioned windsock to signify a gently direct head wind resemble those “perfect day to fly” moments. This cirrus has been “cartoon-ified” to give it a little more playful character and can be any of the models - SR20, SR22, SR22T, etc.

Powder coating is definitely the focus and application that was used in order to achieve all the little details you see! While the entire thing is, as always, made from solid stainless steel underneath the powder coat! The runway has a very coarse and hard textured black to perfectly simulate the asphalt of the runway. The deep red of the cirrus has a gorgeous contrasting high gloss finish for a sense of quality and prestige. Additionally, this red is transparent which means the shine of the metal can be seen through the red color!

The white stripes are powder coated on top of the black asphalt - a special stencil had to be made so that I could cove the cut outs of the dashed centerline with white powder and bake a second time.

Lastly, the wind sock! This one was tough - first I made the sock itself from solid stainless 1/2” bar stock. I used my grinder to taper it down evenly and then drill holes in either side. After that, I powder coated it white for the first bake in the oven at 400 degrees. Then taped off the stripes to cover it in orange. There is a slight bit of discoloration on the white due to this process.
