5 lb Big Buoy
5.5 LBS OF STEEL AND BIRD POOP!
*ONCE THIS SCULPTURE IS SOLD, IT WILL NOT BE MADE AGAIN*
My buoy design is still the one I am most proud of when considering the balancing aspect of it so I decided to make it BIG. Weighing in at a beefy 5.5 pounds of steel, this 12 inch tall buoy bobs and sways the same way my classic smaller design does. If you watch the video below, you can see just how lightly and effortlessly is spins and bobs. But you are blown away when you pick it up! You and everyone that sees it will wonder just how it balances at all!
Display this as a center piece in a room, and it will immediately draw attention and guaranteed to be a conversation piece!
The “float” bottom portion of the buoy is constructed of thick steel tubing and the rest is solid stainless steel bar stock! I hand finished all areas of the buoy then carefully airbrushed a deep candy red automotive grade paint. I did three coats of clear to really bring out the red and seal the whole thing.
Lastly - The bird poop! This was something I was not originally planning on but after the red pain dried, the idea popped into my head! Using a special combination of thinner and white paint, I made a mixture that would accurately simulate the natural uneven discoloration. I then hand applied every drip, drop and streak to portray an old ocean buoy that has been on the water for years!
DIMENSIONS:
Height (while balancing): 14 inches
Width: 10 inches
Weight: 5.5 pounds
